Searching Records Across Multiple Churches

Note: Only users with access to multiple church databases or users who are part of a Diocese Initiative can search across multiple church databases.

  1. To search family records across multiple churches, go to Families > Family Explorer. To search member records across multiple churches, go to Families > Member Explorer.
  2. Scroll to the Church ID column.
  3. Remove the Church ID filter by clicking the icon of the funnel with a slash.

Tip: Church ID is the unique number eCatholic ChMS assigns to your church database(s). The Church ID is visible in the Church ID column and within the URL.

  1. Your view will populate with family or member records across the diocese or group of churches.
  2. To return to viewing only the family or member records within your database...
    1. Scroll to the Church ID column.
    2. Type your Church ID (found in the URL) in the field underneath the Church ID column heading.
    3. Hit Enter.

Tip: When searching across a diocese, some family and member records are highlighted in blue. Those are families and members whose church databases you have permissions to access. Clicking the family or member will open their record in a new tab.

Create a Layout Displaying Records Across Multiple Churches

  1. To save this layout for viewing family records, go to Families > Family Explorer. To save this layout for viewing member records, go to Families > Member Explorer.
  2. Arrange your columns as desired.
  3. Scroll to the Church ID column.
  4. Remove the Church ID filter by clicking the icon of the funnel with a slash.
  5. Click Layout > Manage Layouts.
  6. Click + Add.
  7. Type a name for your layout (e.g. "All Churches" or "Diocese Search").
  8. Click Save and Close.
  9. By clicking Layout you can now toggle between the eCatholic ChMS Default Layout, this newly created layout, and any other layouts you have saved.
