Unsubscribing and Resubscribing Email Addresses
IN THIS ARTICLE:
Unsubscribing from Emails
If a parishioner directly tells your parish office that they no longer wish to receive parish emails, parish staff can edit the Family Record and Member Record accordingly.
Go to the Family and/or Member Record and select the drop-down menu where their email is listed. Uncheck the Email Notifications box and click Save. By leaving the "Email Notifications" unchecked, you are preventing emails from being sent to the parishioner.
Note: Within the Member record, you only need to uncheck the "Email Notifications" box if you want the member to stop receiving messages. You don't need to uncheck the "Receive Family Alerts" box, but it is good practice to do so.
Tip: You may want to leave a note in the Family record, or a PRM Note indicating that the parishioner requested to not receive any more emails. This will inform other staff members that a particular family/member has the notifications box(es) unchecked on purpose and it should not be turned back on without the parishioner's permission.
Parishioners also have the opportunity to unsubscribe from emails on their end. At the bottom of each email parishioners receive, there is a link that allows them to unsubscribe.
Upon selecting the unsubscribe button found at the bottom of the email, parishioners will be taken to a page where they must confirm that they would like to unsubscribe. After clicking the blue Unsubscribe button, parishioners will no longer receive emails sent through the ChMS. (This is true even if the Email Notifications box is still checked.)
Resubscribing to Emails
If a member of your parish hits unsubscribe after receiving an email that you sent through the ChMS, we are asking that parishioners send us an email requesting to be resubscribed. The email should be sent to [email protected] and come from the email address asking to be reinstated.
