Updating Your Website Email for eCatholic ID
Setting up eCatholic ID to access your website requires using the same email address for both your eCatholic ID account and your website user account. If they don't match, you won't be able to successfully use eCatholic ID to log in to your eCatholic website.
Before using eCatholic ID to log in to your website, you should check that the email address on your website user account:
- Is accessible, i.e. you are able to check messages received at that email address
- Is yours, i.e. isn't a generic email that others at your organization also use to log into things
To view or update your website user account email address:
Log into your eCatholic website via the legacy login (i.e. your existing username + password)
- Click on your name in the upper right corner.
- Click User Preferences.
In the resulting window, you can edit the email address listed in the Email field. Be sure to Save!
If the email field is not editable, this indicates your user account has already been linked to an eCatholic ID. You can update your email address by clicking "Login Preferences" and making the update in your eCatholic ID account.
Changing your website user email to match your eCatholic ID email is recommended. However if your eCatholic ID uses a different email, and you do not wish to update your website user email to match, you can optionally log into your eCatholic ID account and add your website user's email address as the "communication" email for your eCatholic ID, using these instructions. You will then be able to log in to the website with your eCatholic ID, allowing you to successfully log in via your eCatholic ID.
